Why This Recipe Works
It's almost not a recipe but more of an assembling of deliciously easy ingredients that brilliantly work together to create these fantastic bakery-look turkey and cheese puff pastry pinwheels! Here's why you'll love them as much as we do!
Fast and easy—These puff pastry pinwheels are ridiculously easy to make, like our Brazilian cheese bread. It's more of an assembly task, then just bake for 15 minutes and enjoy!
Versatile—You can adjust the ingredients to your liking! Swap the cheeses, use pepperoni, or add your favorite herbs. It's a blank canvas of flavors!
Other snacks that you might want to try are our chicken and shrimp dumplings and crispy Chinese spring rolls!
Ingredients For This Recipe
Puff pastry—We use high-quality store-bought puff pastry made with real butter. It tastes deliciously buttery and rises beautifully when baked, like our caramelized onion tartlets with camembert. The quality really makes a difference, trust us!
Cheeses—We use a combination of Havarti cheese and Parmesan! Havarti cheese melts very well, and Parmesan adds amazing flavor. Alternatively, you can use mozzarella, cheddar, or any cheese that melts easily and has good flavor.
Turkey ham—We love how subtle the flavor is, and when combined with the other ingredients, it’s just perfect! You can use your favorite deli meats or even pepperoni!
Dijon mustard—Its bold and tangy flavors complement the other ingredients well, and we love it in these turkey and cheese puff pastry pinwheels!

Recipe Expert Tips
If you're going to make these turkey and cheese puff pastry pinwheels recipe, make sure to follow these top tips!
- Handling the puff pastry. Puff pastry is easiest to work with when it is very cold. If you use frozen puff pastry, let it semi-defrost so it remains pliable without becoming too soft to handle. For fresh puff pastry, you can semi-freeze it to make it firmer and easier to work with, as it tends to soften quickly at room temperature. Thirty minutes should be sufficient for both methods.
- Don't fill up until the edges. This will prevent the filling from oozing out when you roll the puff pastry. Leave around 1 inch on the edge.
- Chill before baking. If the assembled log feels soft to cut, chill it in the fridge for 30 minutes. It'll be firmer and make cutting it easier. It also will make the puff pastry puff up more beautifully!
How To Make In Advance, Store, And Reheat
Make in advance—These turkey and cheese pinwheels with puff pastry are perfect party appetizers to make in advance and lessen your workload when hosting! Simply assemble and roll the puff pastry into a log, then wrap it tightly in cling film. You can freeze it for up to 6 months. When ready to use it, thaw the log at room temperature for about 15 minutes or until it's soft enough to slice. Then, continue baking according to the recipe instructions.
Store—Store the baked ones in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat—We love making these as our Christmas appetizer and the leftovers are somehow what we always fight over! Reheating using an air-fryer is such a breeze we put them in and reheat them at 300ºF (150ºC) for 10-12 minutes. If using an oven, reheat them in a preheated oven at 350ºF (175ºC) for 8-10 minutes.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, definitely! We recommend assembling everything, rolling it into a log, wrapping it tightly with a cling film, and freezing it for up to 6 months. Whenever you want, thaw it at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or until it's soft enough to cut into slices. Bake as per recipe instructions.
We love reheating using an air fryer! It is such a breeze we put the puff pastry pinwheels in and reheat at 300ºF (150ºC) for 10-12 minutes. If using an oven, reheat them in a preheated oven at 350ºF (175ºC) for 8-10 minutes. We don't recommend reheating in the microwave as it'll make the pinwheels soggy.

Hi! Look so forward to making these. Can I make ahead and freeze? If so how to reheat (temp & time) Thanks!
Bea & Marco says
Hi, Betty! Yes, you can. Roll, slice and fast-freeze unbaked ones on a tray lined with parchment paper for 1 hour. Once solid place them in an air-tight container and back in the freezer. Bake as per recipe instructions with few extra minutes, until they're golden brown. Reheat baked frozen ones at 350ºF (175ºC) for more or less 10 minutes. Hope it helps!
